Moon Exit

by Naomi

Seven nocturnes for empty avenues. Recorded between 1 and 5 A.M. in lower Manhattan, a record built for the city after everyone else has gone home.

IA Letter From the Creator
This record began with a single walk. The city was quiet in a way it rarely is. I wanted to press that silence into sound — not the absence of noise, but the feeling of being awake in a sleeping place. If you find yourself driving alone tonight, this album is for you.

IICreator's Journal · Wednesday

I kept returning to the corner of Lexington and 28th. There is a streetlamp there that flickers in three-second intervals. It became the metronome for the entire record. We tracked most of it in a borrowed loft with the windows open. You can hear the avenue in the silences. That was not an accident.

IIIArchive Journal · Thursday

A week after release, the first messages arrived. Someone wrote that Lexington, Blue helped them through a long flight home. Another listener said they played Closing Time at their grandfather's funeral. The record stopped belonging to us the moment it was archived. It now lives inside other people's nights.

Played it on a long drive at midnight. The city outside started to feel like a film I was inside of.
